How to put a map of your route on a post or page
Before you start, check if the plugin is configured properly: Log into your WordPress blog and go to "Settings/Nomads Connected". You should see two API keys on the options page, one for Google Maps and one for Nomads Connected.
Once everything is up and running, execute the following steps:
- Enter your route in Nomads Connected.
- When editing a post or page in WordPress you will see a new box called "Nomads Connected". (Please note that you can move this box with your mouse so you don't have to scroll down every time.)
- Check the "Display Your Route" box.
- Click into the "From Date" and "Through Date" fields to select which part of your route should be displayed on the map. You can enter basically everything here: past dates, future dates, large ranges like a whole round the world trip, start and end date of your last holiday or just one particular step of your trip. To make blogging about a certain step of your trip easier, you can click on any of your past waypoints to transfer the dates into the input fields.
- And that's all.
What if your route changes?
The plugin gets data from Nomads Connected in real time, so any changes you make there will be instantly reflected in your blog. The only time you have to change anything on the WordPress side is when you change dates.
